If This Was A Challenge, Christian Siriano’s Payless Line Would Get Him Auf’ed
What the . . . ?
“Project Runway” alum Christian Siriano’s fiercely anticipated collection for Payless finally arrived online. And while the three styles currently available are pretty fierce compared to the wallet-friendly retailer’s regular fare, something got lost in translation between their 2009 Fashion Week debut and the production line–they’re definitely underwhelming considering the source.
At least the ones the models at his show wore were interesting/scary, with spikes and chains galore. The ones online aren’t exactly a “hot tranny mess,” but they look like they were made for a corporate tranny who works as a business executive’s assistant.
After all the build-up, I feel like Charlie Brown after Lucy pulled the football away.
But on the plus side, the styles — the Strut Pump, the Sandstrap Peep Toe, and the Slither Boot — all retail for under $50, which is definitely a welcome price tag for designer diffusion shoes.
It’s still unclear whether all of the styles that were previewed back in the spring have simply yet to make their arrival in Payless stores and online, or if they’ve just been scrapped entirely from the line. Let’s hope he’s just saving the best for last . . .
Were you looking forward to Christian’s Payless line? What do you think: Fierce or a flop?
