Shoe Lover’s Holiday Gift Guide: Scents of Style

“See a shoe and pick it up and all day long you’ll have good luck.” — Andy Warhol
In honor of Andy Warhol’s birthday — he would have been 80 this year — luxury fragrance emporium Bond No. 9 has released a new scent, Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue, devoted to him (the third fragrance in a series of Andy Warhol collectible scents).
Nice to know, but what the heck does that have to do with shoes? Read on to find out . . .Obscured by his pop artistry is the little known fact of his pre-Studio 54 days living on Lexington Avenue in New York where he drew whimsical illustrations of shoes for legendary store I. Miller. Those drawings became a book, A La Recherche du Shoe Perdu, which he collaborated on with writer Ralph Pomeroy.

Appropriately, the perfume bottle is decorated in a collage of shoes and boots commissioned by I. Miller. 400 limited-edition bottles will feature silver shoe pendants by jeweler Robert Lee Morris. Sweet, a gift with purchase! Since perfume is an accessory as important as a pair of killer stilettos, the combination of the two is a perfect fit.
The eau de parfum concocted is a floral woody chypre (chypre meaning fresh citrus topnotes and a lingering forest-like base) with highly coveted contemporary gourmand notes—a brew of peony, orris, patchouli, sandalwood, cardamom, fennel, almonds, cumin, and even crème brulee. A seductive and intoxicating autumn-winter fragrance, Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue is the perfume equivalent of that rarity, an outrageously luxurious pair of stiletto heels that fit as comfortably as a glove. Wearing the scent, like wearing the shoes, will turn a woman’s walk into a sinuous glide.
Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue by Bond No. 9 is available in 100ml for $195.00 and 50ml for $135.

Fragrance samples eaux de parfum are housed in sleek glass vials, hand-wrapped in colorful foils. Choose 6 samples for $15. This charge includes shipping and handling to locations within the US.
My sample is on the way (Merry Christmas to me!) so read Fragrance Bouquet’s fragrance review for a wrist test. And thanks to ShoeMinx for this fabulous find.
