Brand Spotlight: SoleRebels, the Fair-Trade Footwear Company from Ethiopia
Ethiopian footwear company SoleRebels is yet one more example of a footwear company doing good in the world.

Founded by female entrepreneur Bethlehem Tilahun Alemu, SoleRebels now employs 40 workers full-time in the small Ethiopian village of Zenabwork. These apparently deliriously happy folks are hard at work making eco-friendly shoes which rely heavily on indigenous materials and artisanal techniques. Sales this year are predicted to be $500,000. Pretty impressive, right?

What’s even more impressive is that the shoes are really wonderful – their rich colors, eco-friendly construction, and sturdy comfort make them the perfect footwear for casual summer days. For a small brand, they offer an impressive range of styles, from strappy sandals to fabric slip-ons. The kicker? They’re all handmade.

They’re also a great way to embrace this summer’s tribal trend – without having to shell out major bucks for the Louis Vuitton Spicy or other trend-starter that no way can you wear to the beach. Instead, with SoleRebels, you can go tribal starting at about $25.
And, lest you think they’re hard to come by, a great selection of SoleRebels Shoesfor men and women is available from amazon.com. So, why not click over today and get yourself some great new summer shoes?
