TOMS Shoes and Blog Action Day 2008
TOMS Shoes is one of our favorite shoe sites here at Fantastic Toe, not only because of their adorable and funky footwear (I propose we all wear their new election-themed shoes to vote!), but also because of the One-For-One policy that forms the basis of their entire business. For every pair of TOMS shoes you purchase, they give away a pair to an underprivileged child. So far, they’ve done shoe drops in Argentina, South Africa, and other countries. Their goal for 2008 is to give away an incredible 200,000 shoes. What a testament to their business-not-as-usual operation!
On this Blog Action Day 2008, we tip our toes to TOMS Shoes and all the other shoe companies who are doing their part in the fight against global poverty.

I think we’re all starting to realize how simple it can be… A wedding blogging site I looked through was discussing how to incorporate giving back into a wedding day (“Donate unused food or cake from your wedding to local shelters or soup kitchens.”); others are giving the facts: “Approximately 790 million people in the developing world are still chronically undernourished;” even techie blogs are making incredibly simple suggestions, “Donate $1 for every 1,000 page views or visitors to your blog or website in a given time period (i.e. one month).” Some have even called out TOMS!
