“Let them…” Loubs

marie-antoinette-loub.jpg

“…eat cake,” she reportedly said. If only Marie Antoinette had had shoes like these, she may have been singing a different tune: Let them eat cake and wear Loubs.

One thing’s for sure, she would have been dancing with glee, drinking Champagne from one of those coupes molded from her breast, had she been presented with a shoe like Christian Louboutin’s perfectly perilous platform named just for her.

And Shoe Diva suspects that any woman fortunate enough to scoop up this limited edition Marie Antoinette capsule collection design will be popping the cork on an exceptional bottle of bubbles to celebrate. In fact, Shoe Diva suggests a Champagne sabering ceremony to mark the presentation of each pair of these courtly creations. But, alas, flutes of Moet passed from a silver tray had to suffice for those lovely ladies who queued up at South Coast Plaza’s Louboutin boutique yesterday to meet M. Louboutin. Here’s what Jane, aka Plush Junkie, had to say, “My perfect Tuesday morning: Wake up, make-up, dress, cafe, latte, salon, blow dry, champagne, Louboutin Boutique, champagne, shopping, more champagne.”

Sadly, she did not get to meet M. Louboutin. No shoe purchase, no tête-à-tête. Priced at $6,295, these magical shoes represent the combined artistry of Messieurs Louboutin and Lesage. With embroidery by Jean-Francois Lesage, of the House of Lesage, these shoes are pure fairy tale fantasy. And two ladies cast themselves as the star of their very own fantasy yesterday when they purchased the new shoe. One bought a light gold pair for her May wedding. Another was gifted a pink pair by her daddy in celebration of her 25th birthday. A third, Christina Le Ferguson purchased a pink pair as well. Many more garnered autographs for their previously purchased Loubs. The littlest lady to receive an autograph was two-year-old Ryan Roberts. Christian sketched and colored a shoe for her, and—just like magic—her tears evaporated.

Shoe Diva just got off the phone with David (say: Dah-veed) at the Madison Avenue boutique where the shoes are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. And I’m going to let you in on a little secret: They are already there! If you want to order yours over the phone, here’s what they have in store for you for immediate delivery:
Pink: 36.5, 38.5, 39
Blue: 37, 39.5 (that one fits me!)
Yellow: 37

If they don’t have your size in the color you want, don’t despair. Orders will be accepted through the end of the month, or until the limited edition count of 36 pairs has been reached. So much more than a mere shoe, these would look fabulous displayed under glass.

So, Shoe Diva wants to know: What color Loub are you–pink, blue, or yellow?
