Posh Spice Gives Up the Shoe Addiction

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

victoria beckham Fashion and pop icon, Victoria Beckham, has said enough is enough. The woman brave enough to wear the infamous heelless boots has reached her shoe limit. Posh says she will need to stop buying so many designer shoes because she is running out of space.

“I just adore them but I’ve bought so many,” Beckham is quoted as saying of her huge shoe collection.

“And I only really wear them a few times. My shoe wardrobe can’t contain any more, so it’s becoming a bit of a joke. I think I need to draw the line somewhere and lose some shoes.”

Hey Posh, if you are planning on unloading them on Ebay, can you send me an email or a Tweet? Thanks doll!

Shopping for Snow Boots

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Some friends of ours were kind enough to invite us to their cabin in Idylwild, CA. California doesn’t get much snow, but recent snow storms have made SoCal a winter wonderland. I had to make an emergency shopping trip for snow gear! Where on earth was I going to find snow boots for a price I could stand to pay, knowing they would get very little use? And worse yet, would I be able to find cute snow boots within my budget? The hunt was on!

I found these lovely contenders:
sorel pac boots

Sorel 1964 Pac Snow Boot
, $66

khombu montreal snow boot
Khombu Montreal, $105

But I ended up settling for these:

payless nora snow boots
Nora Weather boot, $34.99

Although they aren’t as chic, they looked just like Dr. Martens peeking out beneath my jeans, were comfy and kept my feet dry the whole weekend. Not bad for $35!

1920s Inspiration for the Working Flapper in You

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

One of the decades I most admire in terms of fashion is the 1920s.  Most of us imagine the flappers with piles of necklaces, bobbed hair, shortened dresses and questionable morals for the time.

These girls lived it up!  The drank, smoked, and flirted with men.  But we never really think about the same girl during the day.  What did she wear when she went to school?  Work?  She couldn’t wear a beaded wisp of a dress during daylight hours right?

Well I was lucky enough to find a pair of shoes that a flapper might love for her 9 to 5.

These shoes are perfect for the inner flapper in all of us.  The low heel ensures that our feet won’t be tired after a long day at work so that we can go out and Charleston all night long, plus they are made by Stride Rite, so you know they are comfy.  The combination of patent leather and tweed like fabric is perfect for corporate environments.

How to Disinfect Vintage and Second Hand Shoes

Friday, December 26th, 2008

DC Diva is curious what you think about second-hand shoes. But have you ever considered how many people have tried on the new pair of shoes you just bought, especially when you buy from a discount store like Nordstrom Rack or Off Saks Fifth Avenue?

If you fall in love with a pair of vintage shoes, fear not. Just like your bowling rentals, vintage footwear can be easily disinfected.

1. Dust baking soda, any kind, on the insole. Leave overnight and dump out the next day. This will take care of any odd odors.

2. Wipe down foot bed with alcohol wipes or disinfectant wipes. Let dry.

3. An alternative to wipes is Lysol spray, or a similar disinfectant spray. Bowling lanes use this to disinfect bowling shoes.

4. When in doubt, replace the insole completely. Dr. Scholl’s has really stepped up the technology on their famous insoles. You no longer have to settle for big, ugly pads. They even make an open toe version.

Holiday Ornaments For Your Feet - Vintage Lucite Heels

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

During the holidays, you home is decked out in all that glitters and shines. But why should the tree and fireplace have all the fun? It’s the season to drench yourself in sparkly wares and your feet are no exception.

Vintage lucite heels are the perfect party shoe. With crystal-like heels, carved with floral or gem like shapes, and sprinkled with twinkly rhinestones, your party dress might get jealous of all the attention your feet will get. Here is a sampling of some crystal cuties I found on the web.
