The Shoe Game

Sorry Ladies, but I have to keep it real…the show game is not what it used to be. I mean come on, where are the shoe cobblers of yesterday?

Don’t get me wrong I love the Choo, the Prada Ada’s, the Manolo’s, and the red bottom shoes, but where are the basic styles, like back in the days, where leather was leather and faux leather was not even a thought.

For instance when I was 9 years old, my mother has these 3 inch burgundy, pointy toe, t-strap with gold buckle shoes and on top of that, had the nerve to have a pair of navy blue, 3 inch sling backs that I feel in love with. Who does that?

I’m in my mid thirties now and trust you me, when I walk into a shoe store, I wish upon a shoe star, that I could find those shoes again. I mean I love a gawdy shoe, an embellished, crystals, rhinestones, fur, feather shoe, because shoes makes the outfit and they tell a story about the person who wears them.

But can a sista, find a REAL shoe like back in the days? We rarely ever see an all leather burgundy shoe or navy blue shoe that pops…everything is either faux of just over the top.

I wish the shoe game would bring back some basic creations. The creations that made us all fall in love with shoes and allowed us to become, “Shoe Divas!”

Loving You is easy cuz your Beautiful!

Remember that song! Its an oldie but a goodie…that was the song I sang when I received my first pair of Manolo’s. I opend the box and before screaming I started singing,

Lovin u
is easy cuz you’re beautiful
lovin u
is more than just a dream come true
and everything that I do
is out of lovin u

lalalalala…
lalalalala…
lalalalala…
lalala~lalala…
do-do-do-do-do-do
Aaahh..

I mean what else was appropriate as I glazed over the size 9, gold leather, leopard mesh shoe with a 3 inch heel. The reason for such the shoe dramatization was that they were, “FREE!” So…

Lovin u
is easy cuz you’re beautiful
lovin u
is more than just a dream come true
and everything that I do
is out of lovin u

lalalalala…
lalalalala…
lalalalala…

I’ll take ‘em!

Every woman loves a good pair of shoes. How many times we are broke, but just like Carrie, we cannot just pass by the store and keep moving. We have to go in, look at the shoe, pick it up, inspect it thoroughly, smell it, because shoe leather can be intoxicating and any woman who is a TRUE shoe diva knows exactly what I am talking about.

When it is all said and done, after we compromise our mental thought that we need this shoe, we ask the infamous question, “Do you have this in a size 8 or 9?” And we look at the salesperson like, “YOU BETTER HAVE MY SIZE, I NEED THIS SHOE!”

I know I am a victim or a suspect in this matter, and when the shoe does come out of the back, we graciously accept the box from the salesperson, trying our best to compose ourselves of the experience which is about to take place…our hearts are beating fast, the anticipation is rising and when we lift the cover off of the box…we are elated with joy. The next mental process is…”I’ll take them!”

Don’t you just love shoe shopping!
